ABOUT NICHOLAS LOKKER

Nicholas Lokker is an adjunct fellow for the Transatlantic Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). His work focuses on Russia-West relations, European and transatlantic security institutions, Russian foreign policy, and international security governance.

Lokker has prior work experience at the Center for European Policy Analysis, the European Parliamentary Research Service, and the American-German Institute at Johns Hopkins University. He also spent a year teaching English in Clermont-Ferrand, France. He regularly publishes analysis and commentary in outlets such as The Washington Quarterly, Foreign PolicyPolitico Europe, War on the Rocks, Lawfare, and Inkstick, among others.

Lokker is currently pursuing a PhD in international relations at American University’s School of International Service. He holds a BA in political science and romance languages from Duke University and an MA in European studies from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Lokker is proficient in French and Spanish and has studied Russian and German.
